no how-to?

Ive wanted to learn how to play for years. Local group is a 1 hour bus ride, each way, that wont get me home until midnight; not so nice in the snow/cold.

Please add rules & tips so I can actually learn & join my local group (come nicer weather) & not feel like a total lamer.
