Four Winds Mah Jong

Well now, I give this Four Winds Mah Jong program 4 1/2 Stars. With suggested enhancements, it will be 5. It really is superb for where it is used. I believe it was made for the iPhone but I took a chance and downloaded/playing on my new iPad. Its great. To my surprise, this game works well enough.

History: I got acquainted with Mah Jong using the real game and the first Mah Jong game on the Mac OS 9 (Mah Jong Parlour) but not on OS 10. A game developer bought it to keep it off the market. The computer game is an excellent replication of the real game including voice. For OS 10, I have two games. One is an internet type that requires money to play so the only why to play it singularly is in the test mode. Bad news. The other is a Japanese version with the instructions in Japanese. I took the instructions/user guide to the internet for translation. No better than a hiccup. They introduced a number of things their real game has but still hard to work with. no fun.

The enhancements I think would help are: Speed the game up or allow user to do so. Allow game to flip like other Apps do. This App/game is not the only one having this problem. Include voice to enhance perception of the game. Old users will not have a problem but new users will need help in understanding tiles and moves. The instructions are lacking completeness. There are many good instructions for Mah Jong on the internet. With good instructions, vocalizing them will certainly give this game a 5 star for the iPad.

Note that this game will not be found in iTune Store under iPad Apps but in the iPhone.
